Author Biography
Liane is a British actress and playwright, currently based in New York, who trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, New York. She most recently performed in Project Y Theatre Company’s reading of The Pied Piper and Shake-Scene Shakespeare’s production of Edward III. Last year, she played the lead role of Daisy in Clatterhouse Theatre’s production of Victims at the Drayton Arms Theatre, London, as well as wrote and performed in her short play A Chance of Rain for the Camden Fringe Festival. She was also commissioned to write a monologue for theWomen’s Writes episode of the London Theatre Podcast, so created Disney Pyjamas and Mini Eggs, which she performed, too. Prior to this, she appeared as Madam Secretary in Body Politic at London’s White Bear Theatre.
She performed the lead role of Meredith in Half me, half you in New York (The Wild Project – Fresh Fruit Festival) and London (Tristan Bates Theatre/Chiswick Playhouse), which was also her playwriting debut, for which she was awarded Outstanding Play by the Fresh Fruit Festival in New York.
She has numerous other acting credits to her name, including, to name a few, Fabian in Twelfth Night and Duchesses in Richard II as part of Clatterhouse Theatre’s Shakespeare rep season at the Drayton Arms Theatre; Andrea in Taken in Marriage, a role originated by Meryl Streep, at the Waterloo East Theatre, which also marked the debut of her production company, RoL’n Productions; and a happy side (as well) at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Film credits include: Gypo (Medb Films/BBC, starring Pauline McLynn, Paul McGann and Rula Lenska, directed by Jan Dunn), and The Parasite (Independent). Radio credits include The Leenane Trilogy (Alchemist Theatre/CamFM). She also appeared in a McDonald’s commercial!
Whilst at Cambridge, Liane appeared in numerous productions at the ADC Theatre and the Corpus Playroom, of which Stephen Fry is the patron. Highlights include: Sister Aloysius in Doubt, Kate Keller in All My Sons, Ouiser in Steel Magnolias and Dolly in Annie Get Your Gun. She toured Japan with the Pembroke Players’ Shakespeare Tour of Much Ado About Nothing. Performances at AADA, New York include the title role in an all-female Julius Caesar, Aunt Sally in Fifth of July and Katharine in Proof.
In 2015, Liane co-founded her production company, RoL’n Productions, with Roxanne Lamendola, whom she met at drama school. Their aim is to provide opportunities for the many talented yet under-represented female-identifying artists in this industry. RoL’n Productions inaugural production of Thomas Babe’s Taken in Marriage ran at the Waterloo Easter Theatre in July 2015 and showcased the talent of an all-female cast of 5 and a further 4 female creatives. Their second production, Liane’s debut as a playwright Half me, half you, which she starred in and produced, had multiple professional runs in America and the UK and included an all-female cast of 4, including 2 parts written specifically for women of colour, a female director, producers, lighting designers, stage management team, publicity designer and 2 female student interns.
